Greetings! I’m Ari Belathar, the new executive director of Corporate Accountability. One of the many reasons I am excited to step into this role is YOU. I believe we share a vision for the world as it could be — where corporations answer to people and not the other way around. And I know we can make an enormous impact together.
No doubt — that world seems far away right now. Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and their cronies are running a regime of the brutes, for the billionaires and the corporations they head. They’re hurting ALL working people — no matter where we live, what we look like, or what we believe in — by raising prices, firing workers, and slashing protections. And they’re deliberately trying to divide us based on our races, backgrounds, and genders.
But as a young child growing up in a poor neighborhood in Mexico, I saw again and again how people coming together in action could make tangible improvements to our daily lives.
I’ve seen the ways organizing creates seemingly impossible change. So as I take the reins of this organization whose mission gets to the very heart of the crisis we’re in, I know we are part of changing the tide.
Corporate Accountability is meeting this moment with almost fifty years of experience in waging and winning campaigns that curb corporate abuse. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy or quick. But I am saying that waging people-powered corporate campaigns in this moment is one of the most effective ways that we can make a difference right now. We know how to strategically challenge corporations to have the greatest impact.
You’ll be hearing much more from me in the coming months. In the meantime, I hope you feel inspired by some of the ways you are helping to challenge corporate power in this moment.
