A special message from allies challenging Chevron

Screen shot of video

You might remember that Chevron, the global oil and gas corporation was the most recent inductee into our annual Corporate Hall of Shame after thousands of people like you voted the corporation the worst of the worst.

Maybe you even voted for Chevron on your ballot for dumping billions of gallons of toxic wastewater and spilling oil in the Amazon and refusing to pay damages or accept a court judgment of liability.

But that’s just one example of the massive and devastating abuses Chevron has been responsible for around the world.

So I wanted to share a video from our allies at the Confederación Mapuche de Neuquén, who have been organizing against Chevron’s fracking activities on their ancestral lands for years.

The fracking happening in the region renamed Vaca Muerta (Dead Cow) has completely devastated the once pristine landscape and disrupted the indigenous Mapuche people’s lives. Gas leaks, well explosions, and water contamination are just some of the impacts experienced by this community.

But people are resisting. Our allies Confederación Mapuche de Neuquén have been acting to stop Chevron, and other extracting corporations, from ruining their land, health, and way of life.

Take a moment to watch the video they recorded, and if you’d like to keep up with their organizing efforts, check out their website.
