Climate

Its now or never

Urge President Obama to fulfill the U.S. commitment to climate justice. Make a call to the Obama administration today.

We don’t have much time left.

On election day, I was in Morocco at the U.N. climate treaty negotiations. As soon as news spread that Donald Trump had won, our allies from around the globe began telling me how concerned they were about a climate denier taking office. And everyone agreed that money was a key component to advancing climate justice over the next four years.

So when we returned to the U.S., we launched a call to President Obama to take one action Trump can’t undo. We need him to release the remaining $2.5 billion the U.S. committed to people dealing with the disastrous impacts of climate change right now.

And I have been blown away by how this has caught fire. In just a few short weeks, almost 100,000 people like you have taken action. More than a hundred organizations, like 350.org and Friends of the Earth, have joined the call. And it’s been covered in media outlets like the Guardian and Mother Jones.

But it hasn’t yet been enough to get Obama to release the funds. So now we need to take it up a notch.

Obama is giving a final speech on Tuesday in which he’ll lay out his legacy — and securing his legacy on climate change should be a part of that speech. Take a minute to call the Obama administration and urge them to take a stand for climate justice before the president’s speech on Tuesday.

Make a call to the Obama administration before the president’s speech on Tuesday. Tell him to fund climate justice before a climate denier takes office.

Obama is spending his final few weeks advancing important policies to cement his legacy. He must add to that list fulfilling our promise to funding climate justice.

The money will go directly to people dealing with the impacts of climate change right now. Not only will it show the rest of the world that the U.S. isn’t giving up on the global climate treaty; it will also spur other countries to fulfill their commitments. It’s a matter of life and death.

Take action before it is too late. Call the Obama administration today and urge them to stand up for climate justice.
