The Boston Globe: We shouldn’t have to fear for our safety when seeking health care

Executive Director Ari Belathar’s response to Boston Globe article “Mass General Brigham was talking about partnering with controversial data firm Palantir. Blowback was swift.” Read the letter in full.

As an immigrant and a Boston resident, I am proud to see doctors and health care
workers take a stand against the data-mining firm Palantir in our hospitals (“Palantir
mention brings blowback at MGB,” Power Play, Business, Aug. 5).

No matter where we come from or how much money we make, we all deserve to receive medical care without fearing for our safety. Palantir, an artificial intelligence corporation that enables and profits from war, the genocide in Gaza, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s kidnapping of our neighbors, has no place in our health care.

As nationally renowned institutions, Mass General Brigham and other Boston hospitals have the opportunity to lead the country in protecting patients and staff from Palantir, the engine behind so much harm in the world. They can do so by committing to never do business with the corporation, ensuring that we can all get care safely and privately.
