Deborah Sy
Head of Global Public Policy and Strategy of the Global Center for Good Governance in Tobacco Control
Deborah Sy LlB (hons), LlM (dist) is the Head of Global Public Policy and Strategy of the Global Center for Good Governance in Tobacco Control (GGTC) at Thammasat University in Thailand; and the Founding Trustee of HealthJustice in the Philippines.
She is a Johns Hopkins University IGTCI Awardee for Excellence in Advocacy (2012) for instituting tobacco industry monitoring activities which won the Bloomberg Award (M) for HealthJustice, a think tank aimed at bridging the gap between health and law.
She is a member of the bar in the Philippines and in New York; and on numerous occasions, has served as legal adviser to the Philippine delegation in international meetings including the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
As a global health lawyer with a background in economics, she provides technical assistance on health promotion, good governance, product regulation, tax and development financing, illicit trade, as well as international trade and investment.
