“I was always aware that corporations are only committed to their bottom lines—not to society,” says Onah. Growing up in the shadow of the worst nuclear accident in U.S.  history—Three Mile Island—will give you that kind of clear-eyed perception, even as a child.

So it’s not surprising that Onah became an activist and organizer. And she always kept her eye on corporate power. Working as an activist and organizer in the abolition movement, she saw the ways that private corporations were exploiting the prison system to line shareholder pockets. “Their profit comes directly at the expense of the people in my community who are made vulnerable and left behind by our systems,” she says.

As Senior Campaigns Coordinator, Onah applies her analysis of power and her organizing expertise in the day-to-day work of keeping Corporate Accountability tracking toward wins. She provides strategic, logistical and organizing support to the organization’s campaigns.

Prior to joining Corporate Accountability she was an activist and community organizer building power across race and class in central Pennsylvania.

When she’s not organizing for justice, Onah is likely in front of a karaoke mic.
