Baltimore sends water privatizing giant packing

Together with the One Baltimore United coalition, we successfully stopped a contract with major global water privatizer, Veolia, in Baltimore. Veolia is a global corporation with a track record of political interference and abuses globally and here in the U.S. Baltimore was considering a contract that, if approved, would have allowed Veolia to to influence the management of the communities’ public water — and profit off of it.

But after five months of organizing with the One Baltimore United coalition and our members, we sent Veolia packing.

We know that publicly controlled and democratically governed water systems are the only way to ensure that water is managed for the common good. Baltimore’s water system has the expertise needed to continually make improvements. We’ll continue to make sure Baltimore’s water stays in the public’s hands.
