Water campaign organizer Leilani Rania Ganser on the dangerous implications Houston’s new budget proposal.
Corporate Accountability stands with our friends at West Street Recovery, the Northeast Action Collective, and other community based organizations in Houston in saying “no” to Mayor Whitmire’s proposed austerity budget. This budget would slash key funding for public health, libraries, and parks, and withhold millions in critical drainage investments. Houstonians have made it clear that they want the city to advance climate resilience and keep essential services publicly owned and operated. Rampant austerity is a threat to these community priorities. We join West Street Recovery and the Northeast Action Collective in saying “no” to backroom deals and “yes” to fully funded public infrastructure and services.
