You demand Big Tobacco pay
This year, we escalated the campaign to make Big Tobacco—and Big Polluters—pay, underscoring the need to hold deadly industries liable across issue areas. And we got a big boost when the U.N. secretary general went on the record to compare the abusive tactics of both industries: “Like tobacco interests, fossil fuel interests and their financial accomplices must not escape responsibility,” he said. We also successfully challenged Philip Morris International’s health-washing tactics, including its attempt to associate itself with COVID-19 vaccine production.
